Alabama Shakes brings their retro-soul sounds to The Pearl Concert Theater on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $45, plus additional service fees. .
Alabama Shakes wraps up its spring headline tour this Saturday, March 16, and will head to Latin America later this month for a series of shows, including performances at Lollapalooza in Brazil and Chile. The band will also play numerous summer festivals, including Firefly in Dover, DE, London’s Hard Rock Calling and the Calgary Folk Music Festival.
In the weeks following the Grammy awards and the band’s appearances on “Saturday Night Live” and “Austin City Limits,” Alabama Shakes’ debut album, Boys & Girls (ATO Records), sold 100,000 additional copies. It is now RIAA Certified Gold.
“Hold On” was voted the #1 Best Song of 2012 by Rolling Stone and the accompanying video has more than 5 million views and is in “Large” rotation on VH1. The track is featured on the 2013 GRAMMY Nominees compilation. “Always Alright” is included prominently in The Weinstein Company’s Oscar-nominated “Silver Linings Playbook,” which stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Chris Tucker, and can be found exclusively on the film’s soundtrack.

Vocalist Brittany Howard teamed up with Ruby Amanfu for a new single, which was produced by Jack White. The pair offers their interpretation of “I Wonder,” originally performed by Sixto Rodriguez, subject of the Oscar-winning “Searching For Sugar Man,” on Side A and duet on Memphis Minnie’s “When My Man Comes Home” on Side B. The single will be released by Third Man Records tomorrow, March 12.
Alabama Shakes – comprising vocalist/guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, drummer Steve Johnson and bassist Zac Cockrell – are based in Athens, AL. The group was named Best Touring Band at the Pollstar Awards, Emerging Artist of the Year at the Americana Music Association’s Honors and Awards ceremony and Best New Artist of the Year at the Triple A radio conference.
