This Swedish band has been a fixture in the melodic Death Metal scene since the early 90s. Some members of the band met in the band Scum in 1988, but later reformed as Amon Amarth. The group name derives from the Sindarin translation of a cursed volcano in Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings. They broke through in 2008 with their album Twilight of the Thunder God which made the charts in Sweden and abroad.
